Customer Support

Project N95 is a labor of love. We are a 501(c)(3) organization made up of volunteers and staff dedicated to protecting and serving the most vulnerable people in our communities.

The Project N95 nonprofit shop has closed. It has been our honor to serve during this moment in history. Thank you for being a part of our journey.

To help you continue to access highly-protective, authentic masks, we have maintained a guide with a list of products that we have previously vetted. Each item has a link to a third-party website—not controlled or operated by Project N95—where you can purchase these products. These links are current as of December 18th, 2023.

We encourage you to use this page to see if your question can be answered by one of our FAQs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Shipping

Note: Delivery times are 5–10 days. Orders take 2–3 days to process and 3–6 days to ship. Items may ship separately.

Why is shipping so expensive?

The products you order from us may come from more than one supplier, which results in higher shipping costs. Our customer support team is happy to work with you to find items that meet your needs and come from one place to help you stay within budget.

If shipping is still too expensive, please get in touch with our support team to make a hardship request. We may be able to help you cover the cost as part of our charitable efforts. We work to make sure respiratory protection is available to everyone in need.

Do you offer promo codes or free shipping?

We do not, but sometimes our suppliers do! We work with them to offer you the best price we can. Each supplier determines the cost of shipping to you based on your location. They charge the most cost-effective shipping rate available.

If your order includes products from multiple suppliers, each will need to charge their shipping costs, and this can compound quickly. Consider signing up for our newsletter for notifications about sales or discounted shipping.

Do you ship to P.O. boxes?

Yes, although not every supplier in the Project N95 shop will ship to a P.O. box. Please fill out the contact form below to get in touch with our customer care team about finding the right products that can ship to you.

Can I expedite my order or select the shipping carrier?

We unfortunately do not offer expedited shipping or processing. Contractually, our suppliers have 2–3 days to process and ship the order. Delivery usually takes about 3–5 days after that for an average turnaround of about a week. We do not have the ability to fast-track an order.

Different suppliers utilize different shipping methods. Please reach out to us using the form below so that we can help ensure that you order products that meet your specific shipping requirements.

Project Updates

What is happening at Project N95?

Project N95 will be winding down operations by the end of the year.

The Project N95 shop will remain OPEN until December 15th, 2023. Any orders placed through the shop before that time will be processed and our Customer Support team will be available to assist you.

Your purchases over the coming weeks will continue to help us do good, including getting masks to those in need as we wind down operations.

We also know many of you rely on our advice when identifying reliable respiratory protection. We hope to be able to provide a purchasing guide to products that we have vetted so that you can refer to it going forward.

Why are you winding down operations?

Proceeds from the Project N95 shop and financial contributions from our donors are no longer enough to support our charitable mission. We have made the difficult decision to wind down operations and donate remaining inventory and funds in order to do as much good as possible with our limited remaining resources.

What's happening to all of your inventory?

Our nonprofit shop will remain open for business through December 15th, 2023. We hope you will shop with us and tell your friends to check us out. We have Black Friday specials, exclusive Cyber Monday deals, and we expect our sellers to have more promotions in December.

Where can I buy masks once the shop is closed?

We know many of you rely on our advice to identify reliable respiratory protection. After the shop is closed, we intend to provide a purchasing guide on the site for products that we have vetted so that you can refer to it going forward.

What if I need to get in touch with you?

Our Customer Support team will be available to assist you until December 31st, 2023. After that date, please direct all inquiries to info@projectn95.org.

Marketplace

What are the different types of masks?

N95 masks are certified and regulated by NIOSH—the CDC’s National Institutes for Occupational Safety and Health. All N95s must meet rigorous criteria for manufacturing, labeling, fit, and filtration.

When shopping for an N95, you’ll probably notice that it typically comes with head straps rather than ear-loops to ensure a tight, secure fit.

N95s are commonly used in occupations that require respiratory protection, such as manufacturing, construction, and health care. While they were difficult to find at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, an increase in supply has made them widely available. N95 masks are a safe and effective masking option for members of the general public. Read more about N95 masks in our guide.

KF94 masks are certified and regulated by the Korean government. They must filter at least 94% of certain airborne particles.

When shopping for a KF94, you’ll find that it typically uses with ear loops and often comes in the 3D tri-fold or boat shape that is popular for giving more room to breathe inside the mask.

KF94 masks were developed to help protect the Korean public against the notorious yellow dust that originates from the dry desert regions of inland Asia. This has resulted in production and standards that are consumer-friendly, including aesthetic designs, readily-available sizing for children as young as two, and convenient individual packaging. Read more about KF94 masks in our guide.

KN95 masks are made to a Chinese standard that, like N95s, must filter at least 95% of certain airborne particles.

When shopping for a KN95, you’ll see that it typically comes with ear loops rather than head straps, which many members of the general public prefer.

Unlike N95s, KN95s aren’t certified and regulated by NIOSH. In fact, KN95s are produced to a self-attestation standard, meaning that any company can produce these masks but must be able to prove to Chinese regulators upon request that they are compliant.

This has resulted in some KN95 masks being produced to a sub-standard level, although Project N95 carefully reviews every KN95 in the nonprofit shop to ensure it is safe and effective. Legitimate KN95 masks are a good masking option for members of the general public. Read more about KN95 masks in our guide.

Are all masks individually wrapped?

No, masks are not required to be individually wrapped. In fact, before the pandemic, N95 masks were rarely individually wrapped because industrial buyers preferred to avoid excess packaging. As a result, many of our manufacturers do not individually wrap their masks. They instead use special shrink wrapping or tamper proof seals.

If you would like to browse all individually-wrapped masks, click here to see all the options. If you are shopping on a product category page, you can also filter for individually wrapped masks by expanding the "packaging filter" and selecting "single wrap."

How can I get masks from Project N95?

Our nonprofit shop is available online 24/7 until December 15th, 2023. If you're unable to afford masks from the shop, please reach out to us through our donation form! We take hardship requests from those in need.

What is your refunds and returns policy?

Damaged or defective goods may be refunded or replaced. Refund requests for damaged or defective goods must be received within 5 business days of receipt of your order. Please contact us by filling out the form below for assistance.

Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns or exchanges for any other reasons. This is because we cannot put used or potentially used PPE back into our market.

Our full refund policy is located within our marketplace terms and conditions.
